Practicals and sunnats

Sunnah means the way of the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

This book is everything Muhammad (PBUH) approved of. He was a great scholar of the sunnah and he included everything he did in it.

Sunnah refers to those things that the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) practiced so that he may draw closer to Allah.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sleep on a mat, but it was due to the custom of his tribe.

I am not required to follow him, but I did go to sleep on my right side and he told me to do so too.

Thus sleeping on the right side is an act of worship. Muhammad did it to please Allah.

Islamic law is taken from the Qur’an and Sunnah. The Sunnah explains the Qur’an, and also adds further guidance and instruction.

Many places in the Quran instruct us to follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Thus, it is incorrect—as some deviant sects claim—that the Quran alone is sufficient for guidance.
